Introduction Oshkosh is a county seat of Winnebago County. The community was named after Menominee chief. Oshkosh is on Lake Winnebago in the heart of the Fox River Valley. Oshkosh was first incorporated in 1853.
Oshkosh covers a total area of 63.2 km² (24.4 mi²) of which 61.2 km² (23.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.0 km² (0.8 mi²) of it (3.20%) is water.
